Introduction
Sally Jackson Coaching is a divorce coaching business, owned and run by me, Sally Jackson. As the ‘controller’ of the information (‘personal data’) that I collect about you, my ‘data subjects’, I’m responsible for how your data is processed. The word ‘process’ covers all the things that can be done with personal data, including collection, storage, use and destruction of data.
This privacy notice explains why and how I process your personal data, and explains the rights you have, including amongst others, the right to access your data, and to object to the way it is processed.

Types of Data
Communication Data that includes any communication that you send to me whether that be through the contact form on my website, through email, text, social media messaging, social media posting or any other communication that you send me. I process this data for the purposes of communicating with you, for record keeping and for the establishment, pursuance or defence of legal claims. The lawful ground for this processing is my legitimate interests which in this case are to reply to communications sent to me, to keep records and to establish, pursue or defend legal claims.
Customer Data that includes data relating to any purchases of goods and/or services such as your name, title, billing address, delivery address email address, phone number, contact details, purchase details and your card details. I process this data to supply the goods and/or services you have purchased and to keep records of such transactions. The lawful ground for this processing is the performance of a contract between you and me and/or taking steps at your request to enter into such a contract.
User Data that includes data about how you use my website and any online services together with any data that you post for publication on my website or through other online services. I process this data to operate my website and ensure relevant content is provided to you, to ensure the security of my website, to maintain back- ups of my website and/or databases and to enable publication and administration of my website, other online services and business. The lawful ground for this processing is my legitimate interests which in this case are to enable me to properly administer my website and my business.
Technical Data that includes data about your use of my website and online services such as your IP address, your login data, details about your browser, length of visit to pages on my website, page views and navigation paths, details about the number of times you use my website, time zone settings and other technology on the devices you use to access my website. The source of this data is from our analytics tracking system. I process this data to analyse your use of my website and other online services, to administer and protect my business and website, to deliver relevant website content and advertisements to you and to understand the effectiveness of my advertising. My lawful ground for this processing is my legitimate interests which in this case is to enable me to properly administer my website and my business and to grow my business and to decide my marketing strategy.
Marketing Data that includes data about your preferences in receiving marketing from me and my third parties and your communication preferences. I process this data to enable you to partake in our promotions such as competitions, prize draws and free give-aways, to deliver relevant website content and advertisements to you and measure or understand the effectiveness of this advertising. My lawful ground for this processing is my legitimate interests which in this case is to study how customers use my products/services, to develop them, to grow my business and to decide my marketing strategy.
I may use Customer Data, User Data, Technical Data and Marketing Data to deliver relevant website content and advertisements to you (including Facebook adverts or other display advertisements) and to measure or understand the effectiveness of the advertising i serve you. The lawful ground for this processing is legitimate interests which is to grow my business. I may also use such data to send other marketing communications to you. The lawful ground for this processing is either consent or legitimate interests (namely to grow my business).
Personal data
‘Personal data’ is any information that relates to a living, identifiable person. This will usually include your name, address, contact details, and other information I collect as part of our relationship, whether you are a business contact, a client or anyone else I come into contact with through my work.
Some especially sensitive information is known as ‘special categories’ of data, and includes information about a person’s race or ethnic origin, religious, political or other beliefs, physical or mental health, trade union membership, genetic or biometric data, sex life or sexual orientation. The use of this type of data, and of information about criminal convictions and offences, is subject to strict legal controls.
I will only process your data if I need to for a specific purpose, as explained below. I collect your personal data directly from you, through our contact.
Where I am required to collect personal data by law, or under the terms of the contract between us and you do not provide me with that data when requested, I may not be able to perform the contract (for example, to deliver goods or services to you). If you do not provide me with the requested data, I may have to cancel a product or service you have ordered but if I do, I will notify you at the time.

HOW I COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA
I may collect data about you by you providing the data directly to me (for example by filling in forms on my site or by sending me emails). I may automatically collect certain data from you as you use my website by using cookies and similar technologies. Please see the cookie policy below.
I may receive data from third parties such as analytics providers such as Google based outside the UK, advertising networks such as Facebook based outside the UK, such as search information providers such as Google based outside the UK, providers of technical, payment and delivery services, such as data brokers or aggregators.
I may also receive data from publicly availably sources such as Companies House and the Electoral Register (or their equivalents) based inside the UK.
MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
The lawful ground of processing your personal data to send you marketing communications is either your consent or my legitimate interests (namely to grow my business).
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, I may send you marketing communications if (i) you made a purchase or asked for information from me about my goods or services or (ii) you agreed to receive marketing communications and in each case you have not opted out of receiving such communications since. Under these regulations, if you are a limited company, I may send you marketing emails without your consent. However you can still opt out of receiving marketing emails from me at any time.
Before I share your personal data with any third party for their own marketing purposes I will get your express consent.
You can ask me or third parties to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by following the unsubscribe links on the bottom of all of our emails or by emailing me sally@sallyjacksoncoaching.com any time.
If you opt out of receiving marketing communications this opt-out does not apply to personal data provided as a result of other transactions, such as purchases, warranty registrations
Your data and how and why I process it
I process your data so I can manage and support our working relationship, comply with legal obligations, improve my services and achieve my legitimate business aims. The information below gives more details about my purposes for processing data, and the legal bases for my processing.
Coaching clients
In order to provide my services and help you to improve your wellbeing, I need your name, contact details, wedding date, and similar details, and I will discuss with you things like your energy levels, stress levels, sleep and eating habits, and other wellbeing-related topics. I only keep records of the minimal amount of information. This processing is necessary for the purposes of your coaching contract with me, and in the case of your health-related data I will process this on the basis of your explicit consent. The only exception to this is if I feel I need to share information with appropriate authorities if you or someone else appears to be at risk of harm.
If you don’t consent to my collecting and processing of your health-related data, please be aware that I won’t be able to provide you with my full coaching services.
Potential Clients
If you make enquiries about becoming a client, I will process your personal data, such as your name and contact details, for the purpose of both of our legitimate interests of exploring the possibility of us working together. If we progress to negotiating a contract, your data will be processed for the purpose of entering into a contract.
Business Contacts
I will process your personal data, such as your name and contact details, for the purpose of both of our legitimate interests of working together.
Who I share your data with
Sometimes I share your data with other organisations so that they can provide a contracted service on my behalf. These organisations are my ‘Data Processors’ and have legal and contractual obligations to protect your data. They include my IT system providers, web developer who stores data submitted through the website in secure UK based servers, and my email list mailer.
MailerLite is the third-party provider I use for email marketing. Their Privacy Policy is at https://www.mailerlite.com/privacy-policy, and you can unsubscribe from my emails using the link at the end of every email.
How your data is stored
Your personal data is held in both hard copy and electronic formats. Where I store or transfer your data outside of the UK I do so only where appropriate safeguards are in place, including the data being in a country that has been assessed as ‘adequate’ or we have entered into Standard Contractual Clauses to control the protection of your data.
How long your data is kept
Your data is only kept for as long as there is a lawful reason to retain it. Some of my retention periods are based on legal requirements, and others are based on the practical reasons I need to keep the data for a certain period of time.
Once the retention period is reached, I will securely delete the relevant data, unless I am legally required to keep it longer, or there are legal reasons why I should keep it longer.
Your rights as a data subject
As a data subject, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
To be informed about how and why your data is handled;
To gain access to your personal data;
To have errors or inaccuracies in your data changed;
To have your personal data erased, in limited circumstances (sometimes known as the ‘right to be forgotten’);
To object to the processing of your personal data for marketing purposes or when the processing is based on the public interest or other legitimate interests;
To restrict the processing of your personal data, in limited circumstances;
To obtain a copy of some of your data in a commonly used electronic form, in limited circumstances;
Rights around how you are affected by any profiling or automated decisions.
