Now the days are getting longer and spring is here, I thought it might be fun to open up and share a little more about the woman behind the website: Sally Jackson Coaching. I get asked lots of questions about the work I do and every now and then someone asks me quite a personal question.

So today, I’ve gathered some of the more interesting ones that I’ve been asked recently about my life as a divorce coach, health coach, menopause nurse specialist, divorcee and PhD survivor – not to mention Mum, loyal friend and nature lover.

Why not think about how you would answer them?  You could add your answers in the comments below or write your own social media post to share with friends and followers.  If you do, please give me a link back and I’ll be sure to check out your answers too!

1. Now the world has opened up again, what are your travel plans for 2023?

I have big plans for travel in 2023/24. This believe it or not was me in February taking part in the Venice carnival. I wore a beautiful costume made by a venetian friend who I met in a travel group! In October I will be in the US visiting my granddaughter which is so exciting! Machu Picchu is also high on the list, as is a train ride across Canada. I love to explore new cultures and especially the local food & wine! My favourite destination in Europe is Puglia in Italy, just because the food & wine are both simple and beautiful – so I might try and squeeze in a week there too.

2. What’s your favourite cocktail?

Great question! For a relaxed evening drink, I’m a G&T girl (which must be made with fever tree tonic, please.) But when I go for a fun cocktail, it has to be a Margarita. Sipping it instantly transports me back to a wonderful holiday when I visited my daughter while she was living in Mexico.

3. How would you describe your dream house?

I actually love my current home but dream of one day having a house on a cliff top with a fantastic view of the sea. I love the idea of sitting outside and smelling the sea air and hearing the music of the waves.

4. Tell us about a funny incident that happened to you.

One year I organised Christmas abroad. My daughter was living in Madagascar and so we were looking for somewhere outside the UK where we could all travel to be together. I booked for Strasbourg, convinced that’s what they’d said they wanted. Turned out they actually said Mauritius!! They only corrected me after the holiday. And by then it didn’t matter, because we had one of the most magical Christmases ever.

5. What’s your favourite season of the year?

I love the changing seasons and eating seasonally fresh produce. But if I had to pick one season, I think it would be Autumn. The crunch of the leaves underfoot, capturing pictures of all the many changing colours of gold, red, orange, pink – absolutely fills my heart with joy. I adore taking pictures of nature, but wish I was a bit better at it!

6. Come on, admit to one secret indulgence…

Dark chocolate with salted caramel – no question!

7. What’s your all-time favourite food?

This is so hard because I’m vegetarian and such a foodie, so often for me it’s about combining flavours. I think I’d have to say a fresh Masala Curry made from scratch would be high up the list! I’ve recently bought Bazaar Vibrant vegetarian plant-based recipes – if the food tastes as good as the look of the pictures, I’ll be in heaven!

8. Who’s your favourite singer?

I’ve been an Elton John fan for ever, but also love Bruce Springsteen. I saw Elton John and the Killers in concert, last year. So lucky!

9. What do you love to do to relax?

I love a crime drama and was totally gripped by the final series of “Happy Valley.” It’s been great to watch more from that talented team too. Also, I have been known to disappear into a Sudoku (still not much good) and I love reading. My daughter gave me a book box one Xmas, and I got a different book every month, often something I wouldn’t normally read. My favourite was probably “Shuggie Bain,” a beautifully haunting book about a boy growing up with an alcoholic mother. It was heart-wrenching and deeply moving, especially as it reminded me of a number of the children of parents I cared for as a practice nurse. Oh and swimming and walking with friends!

10. Describe one thing you know you do well.

My number one skill is finding the right question to ask in order to prompt a life-changing shift in your perception.  Throughout my career I’ve been highly observant and a keen listener. This has taught me so much about human nature, human potential and the things that motivate us to make a difference in our own life and in the lives of others. My goal is to support each and every client to make rapid, transformative choices and real progress towards their goals, and it all starts by seeing things from a totally new and hopeful perspective. Do let me know about you. Sally
